Spring has Sprung???

Horse Portrait
work in progress by Sue Steiner

Hopefully! My kids have started baseball practise. The tulips are halfway up, the robins are a common sight now, my horses are shedding like crazy. I've been watching the birds as they gather nesting material. My horses have been brought in, for the most part, off of the pasture so the grass can come in and their hooves not tear up the soft soil..... All signs pointing to the fact that spring has sprung! This week's temps are expected in the high 50's- low 60's. I am remembering the snowstorm we had last year in which 12 inches got dumped on us at the end of March so I now this time of year can be fickle! For today I will enjoy the sun and the warmth. I hope you do too! I am working on my studio then heading out to the barn to ride.

Today I am sharing with you a graphite drawing I am doing. This is of an arab stallion. My hope is to do this same pose 3 times in different mediums - graphite which you see above, watercolor and oils. I think this will be helpful for people deciding on which medium whencommissioning me for a equine or pet portrait.

Happy Trails!
